Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
This morning at 4 am, I was awake and Gideon was mad. As he was screaming and I was jiggling and swaying and trying to talk in a calm voice, I was struck with the though that God knew what he was doing when he wrote the Bible...
Specifically, I'm talking about 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. I'm not so great at memorizing Scripture, and it would take me a while to stumble through all the things that love are. But, I could never forget the very first phrase: 'love is patient.' At four in the morning, that small snippet of Scripture can jump to the front of my foggy brain. Every part of that passage is important, but I know that it wasn't random choice that God decided to put 'patient' first. He's a smart dude.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny, I think exactly the same thing but not with a baby with my boyfriend. :) God definitly knows what He is talking about but sometimes it is really hard to follow it. Good luck with those early morning wake up calls, I'll be praying for you.
